rhythmbandit: Ray is sticking out his tongue, and making a gun with his finger to shoot himself in the head, in jest (L&R * Ray goofin)
What do you say to Jaime Hernandez? I got him to sign a copy of LOCAS II I bought at the signing. I wish I had my copy of Music for Mechanics, my first L&R book, but it was at home.

Anyway; it's like talking to god. What would you say, "hey, I love your work; the women are especially great"? All I could say was thanks.

I've been reading LOCAS II, and man oh man is it good. Ray is great, and so is Maggie, and Hopey, and everyone, really. Frogmouth, Sid, Doyle, Julie Wree, Izzy, Penny, Negra, the whole cast. Totally a steal at 300+ pages for $40.

Dirk Deppey, author of the comics news roundup ¡Journalista! on TCJ's website, has ended the Scans_Daily Link of the Day feature. Not a big deal, really, but it made me wonder how much S_D has changed over the years. I wasn't that involved with the LJ version of S_D... I wonder who started it, if any of the original team is still on S_D, and if not, what do they think of the current community?

I think I found S_D through Journalista, actually... maybe. Who knows. I was subscribed to TCJ long before I found S_D, I know that. I joined LJ in April 2006, probably found S_D around that time. I never posted, mostly lurked, sometimes commented.

HOLY CRAP A GAME OF THRONES IS REALLY GONNA BE ON HBO!!!

Okay, I'm a little late to the party, but OH MAN THIS IS GONNA BE SO SWEET! I don't get excited about much, ever, but A Song of Ice and Fire is my favorite book series, and GIANT FLYING JESUS LIMOS I can't wait for this to come out [insert celebration GIF here]. I only wish I lived in Northern Ireland and was in the TV business, that would be an awesome job.

I'm sure this has been done already, but CASTING FUN TIME! I didn't research this very much, I just want to see all the actors' and actress' in one place so I can think about how AWESOME this show is going to be.

ETA: images gone till i find a new host

25 pics under the cut and vague spoilers for the first three books I think, they all blend together in my mind. )

I just started a blog to share music I'm making with the Korg DS-10, which is a Korg synth program/game for the Nintendo DS. It's pretty sweet. I didn't know anything about synths before, but it's really fun designing sounds.

Musical Doodles on Tumblr

I started on Wordpress, which is great, but not suited for what I'm doing.

Tumblr is a new discovery, and I wasn't sold on the "less is more" concept at first, but after finding some great blogs that make good use of the design, I'm growing to like it. The "liking", "reblogging" and "following" functions are great, and make for a great community. I can't explain it, but it makes the blogs much more accessible to newbs, and I don't feel like a creeper/stalker for following other blogs and "liking" posts. It's simple, and I like it. Like.

Plus, you can upload one mp3 per day for free, which is better than uploading my files to a Google Site. The only problems I have with Tumblr are: I'm not sure if Google Analytics is actually working, and I can't log in to disqus.com.

rhythmbandit: he flies through the air with the greatest of ease... (Bats * Robin flying)
My recent post on Scans_Daily about The Photographer was featured on TCJ's Journalista as their Scans_Daily Link of the Day.

TCJ is (last time I read it, I never renewed my subscription) a great magazine, and Journalista is my favorite comic blog, even if I never get to read 80% of the stuff posted there.

In case someone comes to this page, I guess I should have something to occupy time.

http://drop.io/rhythmbandit

Oh look, there's a mixtape!

Wintry Mix

1. Broken Social Scene . Capture the Flag
2. Ingram Marshall . Partial Requiem
3. Yoko Kanno . Pilgrim Snow
4. Sigur Ros . Saeglopur
5. Lanterna . Sands
6. Boards of Canada . Over the Horizon Radar/Corsair
7. Christopher O’Riley . Knives out
8. California Guitar Trio . Above the Clouds
9. Vince Guaraldi Trio . Cast Your Fate to the Wind

Hopefully it'll get warmer now, but in case it snows again you'll have some mood music. It's pretty much all instrumental music that reminds me of winter.

And if you don't like music, you can always go to ZomboCom, where the possibilities are endless.
